What Should You Expect On Your First Visit?

There are a couple of things that you should expect when you have a first visit at our clinic.  At Health First Chiropractic Clinic, P.C. you will always be greeted with a smile and friendly “Hello” from our front desk Chiropractic Assistants.  Then you will be asked to fill out a Registration and History form along with a Consultation History form.  Once you have completed these forms to the best of your ability, one of our friendly staff will take you to our examination/x-ray room where Dr. Szagesh will have a consultation with you to discuss the cause of your problem, and what he will need to do to determine how he can help.

Our examinations are geared toward detection and correction of the “Vertebral Subluxation” (a vertebra that has lost it’s normal position or motion therefore interfering with the nervous system functioning).  The procedures we use are therefore specifically selected for your spine and nervous system health. 

Our examination consists of a thorough spinal and nervous system exam, which includes palpation.  Palpation essentially is checking your spine by hand.  With this exam Dr. Szagesh can feel areas of your spine that may be involved with subluxations.  Spinal position, curvatures, and muscle tone can also be examined as it relates to possible spinal subluxations.

Your examination will include a complete orthopedic, neurological and physical analysis, a complete check of your ROM (range of motion) and also an analysis of the different areas of the spine as it relates to your personal condition. 

The examination is a very important part of the new patient process.  It helps us determine the possible cause of your problem as well as what we can do to help you function to the best of your body’s ability. 

Spinal x-rays may be taken depending on your age and subluxation.  There are many reasons why we would not take x-rays on certain patients including pregnancy, some children, recent usable spinal x-rays and some other various situations.  The x-ray machine that we use in our office is state-of-the-art, providing minimal exposure to radiation so that you, as a patient, can be confidant that you are getting the best chiropractic care for your specific condition. 

These x-rays give Dr. Szagesh important information including the position of the spinal bones, and the quality of the spine and the safety of adjusting it.  X-rays also tell us the relative length of time subluxations may have been involved in your spine and if there is any degeneration forming.

With all of this information Dr. Szagesh can make a more accurate determination of the type of adjustments your spine needs, which will be useful since you will be receiving your first spinal adjustment on your first visit so that your care can begin right away. 

The initial frequency of your care as well as your x-rays will be explained to you and covered in detail at your Report of Findings.

You will be scheduled for your Report of Findings within a few days of your initial visit.  This is your most important visit and may take up to one hour.  It is at your Report of Findings that Dr. Szagesh will give you a care plan and go over any special instructions you will need to obtain the best results.  We have set aside specific times for these visits so as not to interfere with regular patient care hours and all of our attention can be devoted to explaining how chiropractic care can benefit your condition.  Our staff will schedule your Report of Findings with you after your first visit.
